Welcome Megastars, Fans, and Newcomers!

To all you stars and starlets looking to make it big, have you found yourself scouring YouTube for inspiration, and saw an enticing video only to click on it and see this:

Well, Megastar doesn’t want this to happen to your videos, and to be certain it doesn’t, we’ve got you covered!

So, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty stuff. If you’re a musician looking to be the next worldwide Megastar, or you intend to use music in the background of your insane skating video, you’re gonna need to know about licensing.

Fun fact: James Bond has a license to kill, so be careful if you ever run into Daniel Craig.

Those looks could kill.

Those looks could kill.

Anyway, back to licensing: licensed songs allow Megastar to promote your videos without any messy lawsuits from wealthy superstars or big entertainment agencies. Unfortunately, artists and studios, depending on who actually own the materials, have to agree to let you use their intellectual property.

(A song like “Despacito” is in fact intellectual property, regardless of its intellectual value. (Ha-ha!!))

Don’t need to know Bieber’s intellectual properties to enjoy that sick beat!

Don’t need to know Bieber’s intellectual properties to enjoy that sick beat!

So, to make this a bit easier to navigate, the Megastar app has licensed some songs officially for you to use. A bunch of them.

Here you can find a list of all the songs available to cover or include in your video submissions.

Don’t be afraid to personalize your performance of one of the songs on the list. Maybe you want to make a medley out of several songs. Going from Sia’s “Chandelier,” to Keith Urban’s “You Gonna Fly,” and ending on Slipknot’s “Psychosocial” is not only a brilliant way to show your range, it’s also the great way to appeal to multiple audiences at once!

Oh, please let this medley happen! 🤘

Of course, you are welcome to perform your own originals; in fact, we want to hear them! (Side note: it’d be wise to copyright your songs with the Library of Congress, and properly register your original recordings with BMI or ASCAP so somebody doesn’t steal them, and then you can make money licensing them out to organizations like Megastar. 👍)

Still, your submission doesn’t have to be an original. Covers can actually be quite original! BUT BUT BUT there is one important caveat for all music lyrics (sampled, covered, or original)...while we appreciate the artistic expression and have even licensed songs for use that include explicit lyrics, VIDEO SUBMISSIONS WITH EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Not to be a buzzkill, but Megastar is playing to a worldwide audience, and discretion is the better part of valor. 👌😉

Now that you have a license to kill, to absolutely slay, Performers: start performing! And Fans: Start…fanning?... Does that sound right? Either way, download the Megastar app and behold a world of talent today!
